Pioneer Days Fly-In a huge success.

Friends of Arcadia Airport hosted the Recreational Aviation Foundation  ( RAF) and the Florida Sport Aviation Antique & Classic Association ( FSAACA) for a 3 day Fly-In/Camp-Out this weekend and by any account it was a great event. Pilots began arriving on Friday to camp out at Aviation City. Saturday morning Friends held their monthly All You Can Eat Pancake Breakfast and served 185 breakfasts ! Pilots flew in from all over the state to eat the best pancakes ever. The ramp was full of aircraft as well as the Aviation City campground with its new restrooms & showers for the visiting pilots. ( The new facility was built with funds raised by Friends through  a 6 month capital campaign)

Friends arranged for a coach to take the visiting pilots to the Pioneer Days held at Veterans Park on Saturday after the  pancake breakfast. Then later that evening everyone gathered around the campfire for an old time sing-along. After a great night under the oaks the pilots woke to a foggy morning and took their time having breakfast, some at the campground and some at local restaurants, prior to breaking camp and flying home. The reviews were all positive and everyone said they would be back to visit DeSoto County and Aviation City again soon. The long distance award goes to Billy Bruggeman in his Piper PA-28-180 from Okatie, S.C.

Friends wants to say thank you very much to all who attended and for the wonderful donations in support of Aviation City.
